Position will report to the Frederick, MD, site, and will support our Clinical Trials Division.

As the FTZ Admin and Import/Export Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in our Information Technology team, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.

A Day in the Life:

Administration of Foreign Trade Zones:

  • Formulate, enact, and sustain programs and procedures to secure conformity with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other pertinent agencies.

  • Work towards activation and operation of the FTZ.

  • Supervise and review the import classification of goods brought into the FTZ and update the GTC classification database.

  • Perform periodic internal FTZ self-audits; resolve FTZ inventory discrepancies, and ensure timely filing of reports to CBP.

  • Evaluate new government regulations and ensure FTZ activities remain compliant. Educate colleagues on FTZ impacts on their operations.

  • Collaborate with CBP and other governmental agencies to align with audit requirements.

Import Coordination:

  • Identify and maintain a record of tariff classifications for regularly imported items.

  • Confirm accurate valuation of imported items and keep records of all imports.

  • Provide import information to customs brokers and collaborate with them to ensure accurate clearance of imports.

  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure adherence to import requirements.

Export Coordination:

  • Ensure compliance with the regulations outlined in the Global Trade Compliance Policy and export control procedures.

  • Monitor day-to-day exports and maintain up-to-date work procedures.

  • Identify export classification of items and uphold a database of classifications.

  • Screen proposed transactions and detail the screening as evidence of due diligence.

  • Apply for and acquire vital licenses and approvals for exports.

  • Preserve documentation of all export transactions as per current regulations and company protocols.

General Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emails and inquiries related to trade compliance.

  • Join calls with project managers to troubleshoot issues.

  • Support the FBS Americas organization with trade compliance questions.

  • Handle requirements for exports to Canada, including special paperwork preparation.

  • Interact effectively with multiple functional areas including management, supply chain, distribution, engineering, finance, IT, and legal.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience

  • Experience with Foreign Trade Zone operations is HIGHLY preferred.

  • At least 2 years of importing and exporting experience is required.

  • Experience in developing work procedures and written instructions.

  • SAP experience strongly preferred.

  • Desirable: experience in logistics and/or a Customs Broker’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret government regulations.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with other departments.

  • Ability to implement new programs with minimal direction.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $83,300.00–$125,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
