Our Client is seeking an Illustrator to bring an inspiring set of guiding principles to life through artwork. This role involves creating kid-relatable and visually engaging illustrations for a limited-run gift book project that blends sports metaphors, coaching themes, and life lessons into a unique visual narrative.
You Will: - Develop illustrations that align with 11 core values and life lessons in a way children can relate to while still appealing to an adult audience.
- Design a cover concept, accent pieces for the back cover, and a title page that fit the tone of the book.
- Create full-page illustrations (one for each of the 11 rules) that balance playful, kid-friendly style with abstract and conceptual themes.
- Incorporate visual storytelling that resonates with a sports-oriented family, with baseball as a recurring inspiration.
- Deliver polished artwork on a defined timeline to meet a special family gifting deadline.
- Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to ensure consistency across all pieces while leaving room for creative interpretation.
- Ensure illustrations are adaptable for print production in a short-run book format.
You Have: - Experience as an illustrator with a portfolio showcasing both kid-friendly and conceptual or abstract work.
- The ability to translate values and life lessons into approachable, relatable artwork for multi-generational audiences.
- Strong design skills for book covers, page layouts, and small supporting accents.
- Creativity to blend sports imagery, coaching metaphors, and playful design into a cohesive style.
- An understanding of print-ready file preparation for small-batch book production.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with the client and bring their vision to life.
- A strong sense of storytelling and visual metaphor to make abstract principles engaging for children and adults alike.
Project Timeline: - Week 1: Review text, creative brief, and initial discussion of style direction. Provide rough concept sketches for cover, accent pieces, and sample page.
- Week 2: Incorporate feedback and deliver refined sketches for all 11 pages plus cover/title concepts.
- Week 3: Present near-final illustrations for client approval and adjust as needed.
- Week 4: Deliver finalized artwork, cover design, and supporting elements in print-ready format.
Logistics: - Start Date/Duration: Starting ASAP due in late October
- Onsite/Offsite: Remote working roughly ET or CT hours (*Must be based in the US)
- Laptop/Software Requirements: Working on your own Laptop & Software

- Salary/Rate: Will quote the project after meeting with the client
