Responsibilities

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV)  seeks an enthusiastic , independent, and professional individuals for an exciting AmeriCorps program in the Lehigh Valley. The position  will support organizational response to individuals and families they serve. An AmeriCorps assignment is a service position that is grant funded and lasts for one year. Please consider this exciting opportunity to support our community stabilization efforts while earning a living stipend and education award. This opportunity is ideal for graduating seniors, recent graduates, gap year students, and graduate students. Ideal for majors in Social Work, Philosophy, Sociology, Philanthropy, Public Health, Child Advocacy, etc.  

Position Summary  

The goal of the Affordable Housing Project Coordinator is to meet with community members to coordinate resource referrals in the areas of housing, employment, transportation, medical, financial stability, etc.  

This member will  

Interface with designated committees of the Allentown Collaborative Ministries.  

Identify financial partners for project.  

Work with realtors to  locate   possible properties for purchase and/or rehabilitation.  

Coordinating church members and other volunteers  regarding rehabilitation projects.  

Securing and scheduling contractors.  

 

Service Commitment --  Approximately 35-40hours per week October 2025 thru August 2026 

  • Hours are  generally Monday Friday between 8:00 AM 4:00 PM (varies slightly by site) 

Areas of Responsibilit y  

  • Attend mandatory pre-service training

  • Administer intakes and referrals to services  

Create and  maintain positive relationships with individuals accessing services  

  • Support the program through daily operational tasks  

Requirements
At least 18 years old
Have a HS diploma or G.E.D.
Able to report in person for work in Lehigh, Northampton or Carbon counties.
Able to secure clearances to work with vulnerable populations (Act 153).
Bilingual helpful but not required.
