Job Title: Avionics Installer

Location: Advance, NC

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay Rate: Starting at $30 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Overview We are seeking a skilled Avionics Installer to join our Advanced Aircraft Systems team in Advance, NC. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience building and modifying wire harnesses, performing avionics upgrades from vintage to modern systems, and repairing wiring harnesses and related instruments. This role requires the ability to read and interpret schematics, harness layouts, and installation manuals, with a focus on quality, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, modify, and install aircraft wiring harnesses and connectors for avionics upgrades from vintage to latest-generation systems.
  • Fabricate custom harnesses and looms to exacting specifications, including routing, protection, strain relief, and cable management.
  • Perform wiring harness repairs, terminations, re-terminations, and diagnostics in accordance with applicable aviation standards and procedures.
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and installation manuals to ensure correct installations.
  • Assist with avionics upgrades, including integration of new equipment, power distribution, grounding, and signal routing.
  • Verify installation integrity through functional testing, continuity checks, and acceptance documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and quality personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and cleanliness in the work area; adhere to all FAA/industry safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts usage, and service documentation; contribute to as-built documentation and service packs.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience building and modifying aircraft wiring harnesses; capable of fabricating custom harnesses to specification.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform avionics upgrades, including integration of modern avionics with existing aircraft systems.
  • Strong hands-on skills with wiring, connectors, harness routing, and solder/crimp techniques as applicable.
  • Familiarity with general avionics systems, power distribution, grounding schemes, and signal integrity considerations.
  • Ability to work from blueprints and engineering specifications with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous documentation skills.
  • Must be able to pass background checks and meet any relevant FAA or industry safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with avionics upgrades on light aircraft or rotorcraft.
  • Experience with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA guidance, AS9100 familiarity is a plus).
  • Knowledge of test equipment and diagnostic tools used in avionics installation and verification.
  • Certification or formal training in electrical wiring, harness fabrication, or avionics installation.
