Required Education: Doctoral degree in Public Health (DrPH, ScD, or related field) preferred; Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) with extensive experience may be considered.

Required Related Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in public health practice preferred for assistant professor; required for associate professor, with a demonstrated focus in an area of public health practice.
Strong teaching skills and experience translating real-world public health and community-based experiences into engaging, experientially-based curriculum.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and community partners.
Commitment to public health scholarship or scholarship of clinical practice as it relates to public health.

Job Summary

The College of Public Health at the University of Kentucky is committed to improving public health outcomes, with a particular focus on addressing the unique challenges faced by Kentucky communities. This Clinical Title Series position is part of a newly established clinical title series focused on real-world public health expertise.

Position Description
The College of Public Health seeks a public health educator with a strong background in public health practice or leadership to join our faculty. The faculty member will play a vital role in bridging the gap between theory and real-world application for developing future public health leaders who will be prepared to address the needs of populations. As this is a clinical title series, candidates for this position should focus on training for the practice of public health with expertise in programs offering experiential public health learning opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching:
Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses including experiential courses focused on public health practice and leadership, including areas such as epidemiology, health promotion, program planning and evaluation, and policy analysis.
Utilize experiential learning methods by incorporating case studies, guest lectures from practitioners, and service-learning opportunities within communities.
Instruction may also be provided in public health settings, in health departments or clinics, or settings that deliver public health services.
Mentor and advise students, providing guidance on career paths in public health practice and leadership.
  • Service to Profession/Clinical Practice:
Maintain a strong connection to current public health practice through ongoing collaborations with local and state health departments, community-based organizations, and other public health partners.
Participate in applied research projects that address pressing public health issues .
Provide technical assistance and consultation to public health practitioners.
Develop and contribute to grant proposals to secure funding for initiatives focused on advancing public health.
Contribute to the land-grant mission of the University through outreach and engagement efforts with community stakeholders.
  • Service:
Serve on university and professional committees related to public health practice.
Advocate for policies and programs that improve health outcomes for communities or populations.

SOURCE OF FUNDING
This position will be funded through extramural funding and contracts. Sources will also include non-recurring dollars and contracts with public health and healthcare organizations. For training and curriculum specific to public health practitioners, state-based funding may also be used.
