Summary/Objective Of Role

AGA’s Group Strategic Planning team is seeking a Mining Engineering Intern to support key initiatives related to benchmarking operating costs and evaluating mine planning software . This internship will provide hands-on experience in data analysis, strategic mine planning, and technology assessment while exposing the candidate to real-world challenges in gold mining.

Key Responsibilities

• Benchmarking Operating Costs:
• Assist in compiling and analyzing cost data from different types of gold mines (open pit, underground, and mixed operations).
• Compare cost structures based on production profiles, mine scale, and geographical factors.
• Help develop a database of key operating cost benchmarks to support strategic decision-making.
• Mine Planning Software Evaluation:
• Support a case study assessing the performance of emerging mine planning software.
• Compare software functionalities, usability, and impact on strategic mine planning.
• Work with AGA subject matter experts to test workflows and document key findings.
  

Education & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled in a Mining Engineering or closely related program.

Required General Knowledge & Experience

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel
• Basic understanding of mine planning software (e.g., Whittle, Deswik, MineSight, Datamine, or similar).
• Interest in operational cost modeling and technology assessment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a dynamic team environment.

Conditions Of Employment

This is a full-time (temporary) position. Monday through Thursday in Office, Friday work from home. As per operational requirements.

Compensation

Hourly: $39 per hour
